o Weekend computer support

ATM have recently introduced a "pikett" service to provide limited support for critical computing components over weekends. Access is normally via the Computing Helpdesk ; problems reported after 1700 Friday will be looked at between 0800 and 1600 Saturday (and Sunday) and attended to if they are within the agreed service limits for weekend service. For further details please see the Pikett Page.

o Important!

New access regulations have been instituted within the Experiment Hall from the beginning of 1998. Please observe these rules, as significant disobedience will only lead to stricter measures. The whole of the experiment hall except for the Hallendienst workshop and a small staging area are now radiation zones and all radiation zone rules apply, even within the data-acquisition barracks!

In particular, note the following:

  • There is to be no eating, drinking, smoking, use of cosmetics, etc. within the zone.
  • All material leaving the zone is to be checked for contamination. This applies even to LN2 dewars being taken outside for filling. There is a new filling station located by the old entrance to the Hallendienst workshop.
  • All people leaving the zone must use the radiation monitoring stations to check hands and feet for contamination.
